Extract of Rhodiola rosea, a yellow-flowered mountain plant, was found to increase the lifespan of fruit fly populations. The extract has long been used as an herbal supplement for its stress-relief and antioxidant effects.
Flies that ate a diet rich in the extract lived an average of 10 percent longer than fly groups that didn’t eat the herb.
Soviet researchers have been studying Rhodiola since the 1940’s, and have found that the herb boosts the body’s response to stress. Earlier this year, a showed that depressed patients taking a Rhodiola extract reported fewer symptoms.
Yes, I have stocked this at my clinic for 20 years! It is good for resistance to cold! We have used it in combination for heat imbalances in various disease treatments.
Some people like to put it in the tonic or “superior” class of herbs with Ginseng, He Shou Wu, Jiao Gu Lan and others but that is incorrect!
This is used as needed only! Taking for life is not a wise thing at all! It can be hard on your body’s balance! Another herb you can take (For life if you want) with many of the same benefits is Siberian Ginseng. However taking He Shou Wu and Jiao Gu Lan for life is what I do and highly recommend for most people! Great stuff!
