Laws and Consumer Demand Lead to Better Headsets

For those looking for a hands-free device for their cell phone, the good news is that the technology has improved significantly. Headsets have also become smaller, lighter and more advanced in sound quality. Some headset now also feature technology that eliminates background noise like music or the din of a crowded street.

The bad news, however, is that the cost of higher-end headsets has risen along with the technical enhancements, with prices ranging from $100 to $130 at the top end.

Cordless Bluetooth models are becoming more popular; only 8 percent of the headsets sold by retailer Headset.com are corded.

They need to make headsets MORE conspicuous, not less. Now that everyone walks around talking to themselves, I can't tell the difference between the truly umm, eccentric, and those who are not.
