The FBI is alerting consumers to an identity theft phishing scam related to jury duty. You get called by an alleged court officer who states that a warrant has been issued for your arrest for a failure to report for jury duty.
If you protest that you never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer asks you for your Social Security number and date of birth to verify your identity and cancel the arrest warrant. This fraud is spreading quickly since it began in 2006 and has been reported in 11 states so far.
