Get a Stanford University Education Free on iTunes

It's just amazing how technology, fueled by the Internet boom, allows us to do such awesome things, like downloading books by the page online and carry music around with us in our pockets. Can you imagine downloading college classes to Apple Computer's iTunes music player?

Although it's become common for some colleges to distribute class materials to students via iTunes (Duke and Michigan Universities), Stanford recently became the first university to distribute a large number of lectures, debates, speeches and other content free to the public.

Stanford's plans call for recordings of sporting events and tours of the campus and the university's art collections. Some of the wide range of subjects available:

  • Global warming
  • Why baseballs have stitches
  • The similarities between baboons and humans
