Lose Weight By Sleeping it Away

An interesting study of some 70,000 women offers more proof you can fight obesity by using one of the most natural and easiest tools in the world: Sleep.

After tracking the weight and sleep patterns of women for 16 years, researchers discovered those who slept less than five hours a night gained more weight over a decade than those in dreamland for at least seven hours at a stretch.

What's more, patients who slept less were almost a third more prone to have gained as much as 33 pounds over the course of the study and 15 percent more likely to become obese. Here's the oddity about the study: Scientists say the final numbers had nothing to do with eating too much or not exercising enough.

Perhaps, the problem lies with hormonal dysfunction in the form of leptin. And, it likely could be a function of our 24/7 lifestyles, way too full of commitments and distractions. Rest assured, however, you don't need a dangerous drug like Ambien to improve the quality and quantity of your sleep. A better, safer strategy is to review my extensive list of 29 Secrets to a Good Night's Sleep.
