Beware of the Fungi!

Just as many of you enjoyed reviewing that beautiful group of face-to-face nature photos I posted last month, you'll be just as amazed by this BBC video that describes what happens when jungle (bullet) ants consume a parasitic kind of fungus known as the cordyceps.

Because this parasite is so virulent, you'll come to understand why infected ants are removed from their colonies in an extended scene that may remind you of a cheesy sci-fi film. By the way, there are thousands of species of cordyceps fungi, each of them targeting one specific species.
