Another Pro-Business Federal Agency Plays Favorites and Endangers Your Health Again

I've been warning you for the longest time about the pro-business favoritism on display every day at the FDA that allows the agency to approve too many toxic drugs and experimental products with NO REGARD for the risks to human health. Evidently, that pro-business attitude runs deep inside many federal agencies that claim to protect your health, according to this interesting Los Angeles Times report.

So much so, Sciences Int., a private consulting company in northern Virginia funded by more than 50 industrial companies, has been responsible for conducting much of the analysis regarding the harm chemicals can do to human reproductive health that was meant to be overseen by an internal agency within the National Institutes of Health, the Center for the Evaluation of Risks to Human Reproduction, established nearly a decade ago.

Even though one federal official claimed otherwise, Sciences Int. has played a significant investigative role at the center and is involved in management there. No wonder, considering the company has a $5 million contract...

Among the company's client base, according to the Los Angeles Times piece, is a veritable rogue's gallery of big business offenders:

Perhaps, that's why it took far too long for the EPA to finally call for a ban on perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), a suspected carcinogen used in the making of Teflon.
