Good News -- More Support for Breast Feeding

Women are often faced with an uncomfortable situation when trying to publicly breastfeed their children.

In many cases, they have had to use careful timing to pump milk at work. Some have to use a bathroom stall for lack of any other space.

But now, page 1239 of the new health care bill mandates that employers provide "a place, other than a bathroom, that is shielded from view and free from intrusion from co-workers and the public, which may be used by an employee to express breast milk."

Companies with fewer than 50 employees can get an exemption if they feel the requirement is an undue hardship.
