Adult Death Rates Lowest in Iceland and Cyprus

Icelandic men and Cypriot women have the lowest risk of dying, according to a new study.

The study revealed a widening gap between countries with the highest and lowest premature death rates. Only Australia, Italy, South Korea, Chile, Tunisia and Algeria have cut death rates by more than 2 percent in the last 40 years, and the U.S. has fallen to 49th in the rankings for women and 45th for men -- putting it behind Peru, Libya, and all of Western Europe.

USA Today reports:
