Green Light Can Reset Your Internal Body Clock

It has long been known that exposure to that full spectrum light resets your body's circadian clock, which synchronizes your 24-hour sleep and wake cycle.

Just over a decade ago, researchers discovered that your body's clock-setting mechanism turned out to be especially sensitive to a certain wavelength of blue light. The discovery spawned a horde of devices intended to add or block that blue light, on the theory that it alone sets your body's clock.

However, USA Today reports that in a new study:

“Subjects were exposed to blue or green light just as they began to secrete nocturnal melatonin, a hormone that regulates the sleep/wake cycle. Contrary to expectations, researchers found that in dim light or for short periods of time, the green light was just as effective as blue light at regulating the circadian system.”
