Pull Out the Plug for Greater Productivity

Paper and pens are making a comeback.  When you disconnect, you don’t have to fight your own mind.  There is no email on your Moleskine, no instant messenger on your legal pad.

Even if you can’t unplug completely, there are easy ways to decrease the noise and get things done:

  • Limit checking e-mail to 2 to 3 times per workday
  • Take a break from checking the news
  • Turn off the music
  • If someone calls twice consecutively, take the call; let all other calls go to voicemail

When used properly the digital world is one of the greatest tools available.  But this great tool can also lead to great distractions.
