This Powerful Vitamin/Mineral Combo Can Radically Reduce Risk of Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian cancer has very few known modifiable risk factors.  However,  dietary studies have suggested a role for vitamin D and calcium in its prevention.

A new study investigated the association between serum calcium, vitamin D, and the risk of later development of ovarian cancer.  The study looked at more than 170 ovarian cancer cases and a similar number of healthy controls.  The researchers observed a significant inverse association between calcium and ovarian cancer risk, and also found that sufficient vitamin D levels were associated with a significantly decreased risk of ovarian cancer.

According to the study:

“Calcium and vitamin D act independently to reduce the risk of ovarian cancer. The decreased risk of ovarian cancer associated with pre-diagnostic serum calcium and vitamin D needs to be evaluated further for possible new insights into ovarian cancer prevention.”
