Brain Exercises Get Sedentary Seniors Moving

Computerized brain fitness programs may help seniors prevent disability and improve their quality of life, according to new research from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University.

When 20 frail seniors who walked slowly and were sedentary participated in a Mindfit brain fitness program three times a week for eight weeks, they showed notable improvements, including:

  • Improvements in their normal-walking velocity
  • Improvements in speed when walking while talking

“The results suggest that brain fitness programs show promise for helping the frail elderly walk better,” the lead author reported.
