Forget Diseases, Hospitals Cited Again as Major Killer

According to a new analysis from the U.S. government, one in every seven hospitalized Medicare patients is harmed by treatment mistakes.  These types of adverse events contribute to 15,000 deaths every month, or a total of 180,000 deaths per year.

Patient-rights groups are calling the findings alarming.

According to Paging Dr. Gupta:

“The American Hospital Association, which represents 5,000 hospitals in the United States, said it is committed to improvement.”
