Excess Fructose Plays a Role in Diabetes, Obesity and Other Health Conditions

A new review of fructose reveals just how dangerous this sugar can be. The review provides a concise overview of recent clinical and experimental studies that show how excessive amounts of fructose can play a role in high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, and chronic kidney disease.

With the introduction of High Fructose Corn Syrup in the 1970’s, an increased intake of fructose began in the U.S. Obesity rates have risen simultaneously.

Science Daily reports:

“The link between excessive intake of fructose and metabolic syndrome is becoming increasingly established. However, in this review of the literature, the authors conclude that there is also increasing evidence that fructose may play a role in hypertension and renal disease.”
