Whey Supplements Lower Blood Pressure

Beverages supplemented by whey protein significantly reduce elevated blood pressure. This can, in turn, reduce the risk of stroke and heart disease.

A study found that daily doses of whey caused a more than six-point reduction in blood pressure. The supplements did not lower the blood pressure of subjects who did not have elevated pressure to begin with -- which is even better as low blood pressure can also be a problem.

Science Daily reports:

“Other studies have found that blood-pressure reductions like those seen [in this study] can reduce cardiovascular disease and bring a 35 to 40 percent reduction in fatal strokes.”
