Could British Children Soon be Forced to Get Flu Vaccine?

The British House of Commons' Science and Technology Committee has called on the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunization (JCVI) to consider immunizing all young children.

About a year ago, the American equivalent of the JCVI, the Center for Disease Control's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), voted in favor of "universal" influenza vaccination for everyone over six months old.

The Telegraph reports:

"A Department of Health spokesman said: 'The JCVI reviewed its long standing advice on this in December 2010 and at that time did not recommend the vaccination of children who do not have risk factors. The JCVI will be reviewing all seasonal flu vaccination recommendations in 2011."
