Parents Warned Over ‘Potentially Dangerous’ Barking Cough That Makes It Difficult for Kids to Breathe

The “barking” cough known as croup not only can be unsettling for parents when they hear it, but frightening for youngsters as they fight to breathe. That’s why, according to the Mirror, if your child has croup, doctors advise making an extra effort to comfort them in your lap and holding them upright. The news agency also reports that more children than ever are being diagnosed with croup, which normally can be managed at home, as the condition usually clears up within a day or two.

Croup is an infection of the upper airway of the lung that obstructs breathing. While this triggers a cough that sounds like a barking seal, it’s true that croup isn’t as serious as the cough sounds. Generally speaking, croup clears up in about 48 hours. However, in rare cases it can develop into a viral infection such as pneumonia or bacterial tracheitis, so this is something you need to watch for.

It’s interesting that doctors are diagnosing more children with croup these days, as statistics show that reported cases of pertussis, aka whooping cough — which triggers a cough that sounds like a “whoop” — have been rising for decades, even though more children than ever have received five or more pertussis vaccinations. Because they’re vaccinated, doctors just assume that when children and adults present with mild respiratory symptoms like croup, they do not have whooping cough, thus triggering an incorrect diagnosis.

The plain facts are that for nearly two decades, scientists have published evidence showing the pertussis vaccine doesn’t work. Instead, it sneakily only inhibits symptomatic disease (the actual coughing fits), while allowing its asymptomatic carriers to spread whooping cough to both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals. This is because the vaccine has caused the whooping cough bacteria to evolve to the point where it’s not only resistant to the vaccine, but makes you a carrier for it.

Despite the vaccine’s failures, the broken-record “solution” is more vaccination, even though it’s well-known that whole cell and acellular pertussis vaccine in DPT and DTaP/Tdap vaccines may cause brain inflammation and permanent brain damage in both children and adults.
