The coalition of private foundations, pharma corporations and government is equivalent to what was called "fascism", "corporatism," or the "corporate state." The government/private partnership is what constituted fascism as Benito Mussolini defined it. Most people today don't recognize fascism even when it is the fundamental form of today's "neoliberal" economy, government and culture because we've all been conditioned to believe that fascism has a clear and distinct anti-Semitic/racial component, but there was no racial component in Mussolini's original concept of the ruling partnership between big business and government. The racial component appeared years later when, as the result of a concordat (agreement/partnership) with the Vatican, Mussolini decreed Catholicism the only permitted religion in Italy. Consequently, all non-Catholics, e.g. Jews especially, were mandated to convert to Catholicism. The only choices allowed them were to convert to Catholicism, leave Italy, or face imprisonment or death. In Mussolini's fascism, private interests, mainly corporations, wealthy patrons and the Catholic church, took over the formerly democratic government and ruled by way of the "Grand Council of Fascism." Homegrown American fascism is something we should be talking about in regard to proposals for government-mandated mass vaccinations using vaccines marketed by private interests in pursuit of profits.
