Altering the microbiome through diet, probiotics and prebiotics might be an effective supplementary method for tackling COVID-19, according to a research

re: Supplements, Diet May Be Your Best Bet on Thwarting COVID-19

Zn/Mg/fish oil/Vit C/Vit A/Vit D3/sunlight/herbs/onion/garlic/mushrooms and more may help the immune system.

Or is it attributable only to better containment?

Phospholipid-DHA (PL-DHA) and sterols are known to be able to increase membrane fluidity. The otherwise tightly bound envelope of COV2 virus, is made of phospholipid bilayers. The same structure as the cell membrane. This increased fluidity of the envelope, when it occurs, may make the virus's spike proteins easily fall out, or at least it will make the virus’ RNA inside much more vulnerable to ROS (reactive Oxidative Species) attack. ROS is what immune cells use to destroy pathogens and is called respiratory burst. So increased amount of PL-DHA in the body, may be a powerful immune boost.

However, if the supplemented DHA (the most important Omega 3 FA) is already oxidized before intake, or if one takes in oxidized PUFA, including DHA and EPA, the peroxide on the PUFA will act as an external ROS which destroy immune cells. The effect will be opposite. Those ROS can destroy blood cells, and cardiovascular organs. I am suspecting the “Kawasaki Syndrome” that were reported on infants may have been caused by the elevated intake of the Oxidized Omega 3 supplements.

The more I read about the USA dependence on drugs and money the more scary that syndrome is for people trying to live on a controlled budget and avoid going into permanent debt. There would be no universal healthcare system there as it is already established in most western civilized countries. I"m not sure where Ecuador stands in the possibility of health. care for all. The insurance and hospitals are expensive here also. I pay $130 a month for health insurance here. In the end when I die they will put my body in a hole in the ground and all that health insurance money could have been spent on number of other things. I'll post this in Highlife and they won't print it in the discussion group. I'm a rebel without a cause.
