The truth is, once you're out of all that & born into Christ's family by the word & the Holy Spirit, even when we don't have the means to change our circumstances, the peace that passeth understanding is still with us, & we know that he said that in this world we would have trials & tribulations, but to take heart, for he had overcome the world, it is passing, & that he would never leave nor forsake us. We have the earnest of the inheritance, the Holy Spirit. Our citizenship is transferred from this dying & its inheritance, & ironically & paradoxically, remembering that is the only thing that makes us the kind of earthly citizen who can fight fearlessly for right in truth. We're still subject to the first death, & we're still wrapped in these tents of corruption which means we have to resist the lust of the eyes & flesh, the pride of life, temptation in the meantime. Threatening our lives is threatening us with rest, with Heaven and home. God makes such available to all through Christ, & it is not his will that any should perish though many refuse to receive it, refusing to love the truth that they might be saved. This is what we offer to the hopeless, while longsuffering & bearing with the weak

As far as the "mental health surge" being "imminent"; it's already here! The masses are paranoid, scared to death (a possible outcome), depressed, anxious, stressed out...I'm stressed whenever I have to venture out into this insane society! I've already posted on this devastating aspect of covid, more than once! This society is collapsing. If you don't see it now; I'm sure it will become apparent; quite possibly by the end of the year.

Chores went very well and I finished early. That gave me time to take a leisurely walk to hunt mushrooms and find a few late-ripening patches of berries hidden in the shade. I walked about 2 miles on steep hills, but had time to stop and rest at intervals on dirt roads. As they say, so steep you had to be careful not to scrape your nose. This gave me time to think. A few things in my life have changed due to covid, but not really that much. I guess the worst is not being able to move ahead in our lives and business because we can't get permits in a timely manner since no one is working in govt offices. Everything is so slowed down.

However, we have so much to be grateful for. We work with a purpose and spend time in nature each day. We have nutritious food and good health. We keep in touch with people, but are generally reclusive anyway, so social distancing has not been much of a burden. Besides, who is checking in the backwoods--unlike inside buildings in cities. Then, I thought of all those poor people living in large apartment complexes in cities... some with such poor ventilation that they could smell neighbors smoking or what they had for supper. Large families crammed into small spaces, getting on each other's nerves. Restless children who could not go outside to play or be with their friends. Lost employment and a lifestyle totally dependent on having a paycheck for groceries, utilities, etc. Maybe health issues. Civil unrest adds to stress.

Then, we hear about "forest bathing", or whatever they call it in Japanese. As if this is something you need a guide for to get the proper experience and technique. People who actually have to go to a park to be under a tree. So unnatural. This is how people should be living every day of their lives, not just scheduling it. An Indian chief said, "Man away from nature becomes cruel." Also, very confused.
