The fault lies squarely with the bureaucratic State governments & their incompetent so-called "chief health officers." Why is the State of South Australia the only State which doesn't have an infant cardio surgery unit? Why weren't emergency travel exemptions granted to allow transfer of these infants to interstate surgery facilities? Callous bureaucratic incompetence.

I would say that both governments are to blame. Potentially, the medical personnel are to blame as well for failing to ignore unjust "laws." One has a duty to treat, provided that the patient or his guardian(s) consents to it. The only exception would be if the provider believed that the treatment would harm more than help.

That's a shame. If Australia would use some common sense in matters like these, these innocent babies might still be alive. Foolish measures here didn't help when taking into effect all-cause mortality; that's wrong.
