I just saw this video from a Ted Talk. This should work great for getting to sleep! I used to rock myself to sleep, and it worked very well, but this is even easier. Here is the link: www.youtube.com/watch

When you've filled your "conscious-cup" with good stuff, it's harder for bad stuff to get in; and when you fill your "consciousness-cup" with the things that shake you up, etc, it's harder to put the good stuff in. BUT you can. Baby steps. Also, a lot of times we have trouble forgiving people... including ourselves. A guy name R. T. Kendall wrote about this. You really must forgive, and that includes forgiving yourself. You can listen to one of his books for free right here: https/.../watch

"It is what it is," helps a lot too, if you can really GET that. A rabbi said it to me once; I'd heard it before; and he was talking about something that didn't even concern me; but for some reason, I finally got it when he said it that time; it is a powerful fact. "Let it go!!!"

DO NOT TAKE DRUGS for your anxiety or insomnia... until you've read through Dr. Breggin's book: MEDICATION MADNESS. There's no substitute for at least one genuine friendship; that is something I wish for EVERYONE. People like to exclude and I don't understand it; my life philosophy since I was a little kid was to not leave anyone out. One person I'm thinking of in particular right now is SCHAEFFER COX who is a political prisoner in a US federal prison; I hope people will ask President Trump to "pardon" him. What they have done to him would traumatize a lot of people; but apparently he's been hanging in there! Help Free Schaeffer Cox - Chained for Liberty on youtube.

Richard Wurmbrandt was tortured in prison for a number of years. I think it was in his book that I read about his experience that even into his 90s he'd still awaken at night screaming. www.youtube.com/watch I had some trauma as a child; it would cause me some insomnia, though I had no idea what it was; I am sure I am not alone in remembering waking up at night shaking uncontrollably. A year or two later I got the idea of reading the Bible, even though I was a terrible reader and didn't even understand what I was reading for a while; faith really helped me. If I didn't read my Bible, I'd have trouble sleeping; then I'd think, "Oh yea, I didn't read the Bible yet." I'd just read one chapter and be able to sleep. I did not have words to tell my parents, or I would have. (Now I have too many words.)

This past May I had some trauma executed by law enforcement; if it had been by a "real" criminal, I'd probably have "recovered" by now; I still awaken with a "start" a couple hours short on a good night. (Scary when law enforcement is not the good guy. Law enforcement is supposed to be upholding our Constitutional rights, not taking them.) Similarly, I met someone last October who was caught be the police when he was 13 or 14; they badgered him for hours until he confessed to something he did not do; they put him in adolescent jail for a while. He was traumatized, and I'm sure that's why he started using marijuana, which got him in genuine trouble with police; he said he was in and out of jail for about 7 years total because of that. He managed to recover, is responsible, works, is married, has kids, etc., thanks to Divine Providence.
