I feel it is timely to outline the decisions of our time... decide where you will draw a line in the sand. How much more will people tolerate? How many mandates and restrictions will you allow to be imposed on your "pursuit of happiness"? Is this really liberty? Do you serve those who want to control you out of a sense of dependency or fear? (I realize I am speaking to the general population and not most Mercolians.) Will you be satisfied to own nothing, not even the right to control your own body and health? Do you want to forever be in hock to the "company store" renting all the necessities of life? Will you be satisfied to serve the will of a master who decides what pittance you are allowed for survival and how you will spend the days of your life? Are you willing to suspend your dreams, goals and aspirations--and those of your children? Will you feel safer if you have no right to privacy or self-defense? Will you feel more food secure as you wait for your ration of 3-D printed meat? Does eliminating individual rights significantly better society? Are you willing to abandon critical thought in favor of group-think?

When a person reaches the age of adulthood, they should expect to take responsibility for themselves and their own families. This is the strength of a free society. Some of us cannot do everything, but I see far too many people making excuses for not doing anything to increase self-reliance. Many have been lulled into thinking in terms of immediate gratification and not looking ahead to plan for the future. It is true that we may face more difficult decisions now than before. -But who would you prefer to have making these decisions affecting your own life? Yourself or some overlord? I believe the constitution and bill of rights were clearly written to be understandable to the average individual. What got in between the people and these documents were attorneys and special interests.

Almond, excellent from the perspective of much loved self reliance. Very frightening otherwise, as I think this writing is eventually on the wall. I think the world is too small to find a place they cannot find us, which breaks my heart for my sons.

I think there will always be people who don't comply simply because that's the type of personality they have. Changing other people's personalities is a difficult thing. But once people realize what's been done to them, there will be an uprising--most likely a violent one. On second thought, this article is right. To avoid violence, a peaceful uprising must begin.
