Getting more vitamin D from sunshine may be your best protection

re: Get More Sun and Lower Your Risk of Dying From COVID-19

I cannot reply directly under Almond's posts so I wanted to say ALMOND--- your posts are always soooo informative. Thank you for your efforts. You may feel that no one physically around you listen, but I soak up all the info in your posts Always !

You're only now getting grey hair ! Impressive. I do believe going grey prematurely for those that do -- is a sign of discord in the body, so congrats !!

All, I live in southern Ontario, Canada, arguably the warmest part of Canada, I luckily tan well (which is weird cuz I'm Irish, but also Indigenous so maybe that mix gives me a blessed skin tone!) and I worship the sun. Went to dermatologist last year and my skin is in a great state. I'm convinced my love of the sun is part reason why I continue to be very healthy, I also ground myself nightly (grounding sheet) go barefoot at the first sight of snow being gone !.... I've begun supplementing with Quercetin and Zinc, always take high dose of Vit C & Magnesium daily, and I supplement D3 in the Winter. More and more I'm considering moving to a property with a little bit of land to learn all I can to grow my own food.

On the early side after infection, the serine protease TMPRSS2 is well established as essential for priming SARS‐CoV‐2 cell entry, following binding to its ACE2 cell membrane receptor. The major human blood serine protease inhibitor (serpin) is alpha‐1 antitrypsin, which is encoded by the SERPINA1 gene. Tel Aviv University researchers suggest that carriers of the genetic mutations PiZ and PiS (SERPINA1 rs28929474 and rs17580, respectively) are at high risk for severe illness and even death from COVID-19. These mutations lead to deficiency in the alpha1-antitrypsin protein, which protects lung tissues from damage in case of severe infections. http://sha.rest/D42Pwd Alpha‐1 antitrypsin deficiency was associated with vitamin D deficiency among patients of type‐2 diabetes http://sha.rest/wASIpB This research explains why, Human CD4+ T cells exposed to active Vitamin D (1,25(OH)2D3) secrete α-1-antitrypsin – representing a novel cellular source of this protein. Studies to identify novel immune-regulatory functions of active vitamin D (1,25(OH)2D3) in human CD4+ T cells revealed that 1,25(OH)2D3 potently induced expression of the gene SERPINA1, encoding the anti-protease α-1-antitrypsin. αlpha-1-Antitrypsin promotes anti inflammatory IL-10 secretion by human CD4+ T cells, via direct interaction with complement C3a. 1,25(OH)2D3 is unable to increase IL10 transcription in CD4+ T cells from α-1-antitrypsin-deficient individuals. Therefore, autocrine α-1-Antitrypsin is required for 1,25(OH)2D3-driven IL-10 expression. http://sha.rest/LkcuCX

I find it relaxing and I like that I'm getting vitamin D. I live in Massachusetts. The first time I sunbathed this year was mid-March. I plunked my lounge chair into three inches of snow beside the cleared path. I was plenty warm enough in my swimsuit because the sun was high in the sky. My doctor asked me if I used sunscreen. I told her I wear a hat. I do apply sunscreen if I'm going to be in the sun for more than two hours, but I only put it on after I've been out an hour.
