Once dubbed the “gifted”

re: Gifted Math Students Can Forget Accelerated Programs for Equity’s Sake

This is "wokeness" at work. It makes my blood boil. There is absolutely no doubt that some people are gifted. I watched a 5 year old boy on TV playing Beethoven with aplomb about a month age. John Stuart Mill was speaking fluent Greek at three years of age. We are not equal in mental abilities. Gifted people having to put up the new restrictions will find a way to circumvent them, I hope, for the sake of all of us.

If I did, I would get something in writing saying I would be exempt from vaccination until my degree was completed. Unlikely. I will prob never travel abroad again. That is also ok. I traveled enough during the good years. Now, I have so much more to occupy my time in my own "backyard". I have no incentive to leave my paradise. I recall some of those terrible required classes in h.s. and some of the general ed classes in college. I suffered thru them. I was frustrated by the slowness and lack of logic by students enrolled in these classes. I was accustomed to accelerated classes. Rarely, did I sit thru such a class that was not a complete waste of my time. In college, I took a general ed class in "idiots math"--to this day, I have no idea what the class was about as it was so poorly presented. It is the responsibility of parents to oversee their child's education. Home schooling is still an option, although one might consider high school science lab classes. There are so many opportunities for education outside the classroom. Embassy schools that train people in foreign language and diplomatic careers, apprenticeships, online college credit, etc.

We regularly hire services from a wealthy family. When the children turned 18, their father told each of them that he had set aside a sum of money to help them get set up in life. They could either use it for college or to start a business. Each of the children chose to start a business. One son bought a gravel pit. They are among the smartest and best read people I have ever met. You can discuss any topic with them on a level that would challenge most college grads, inc. math, literature.

I was lucky to get good chemistry professors before they retired. That was the end of my education. So little of value left in college. Why study someone else's theory of what I have already done in my life--taught by someone who who never did it
