Online charts of Moderna (MRNA) stock show that it's up 6.55% today to an all-time high. That's much more than any savings accounts or CDs pay in one year. Moderna, like most vaccines, is purchased in very large quantities by governments, using taxpayer dollars. It's unlikely that most people would choose to pay for the vaccination out of pocket but are enticed by the lure of something that's free. Not only that, but governments have a history of contracting to buy large amounts of vaccines and subsequently discarding millions of doses that went unused. For an investor, that's important because it shows that money can be made (thanks to government largess) even if a vaccine turns out to be a failure. And Moderna's COVID "vaccine" is a spectacular financial success even though it doesn't have FDA approval.
