Most of the scrips that are written are just 'experimental' anyway! Even the docs don't really know if they will work for that person! So--why not just use the 'complimentary samples' that the 'Pill Pimps' come trucking into the docs offices in their little 'sample filled suitcases?' (That is, if we are gonna be guinea pigs anyway!) ANSWER: Big Pharma wants that upfront money!

Who isn't in the pharmaceutical companies' pockets? They could have come up with suggestions like, if it's a new drug for the patient, prescribe a one week supply to make sure they don't have side effects before prescribing a monthly supply. Or if the doctor is ready to prescribe a drug to counteract side effects from a drug the patient is taking, maybe they should try a substitute for the first drug.
