Neonicotinoids, sometimes called neonics, are systemic insecticides. That means they are present throughout the entire plant, and they can't be washed off. The poisons not only kill insects which eat the plants' parts, such as roots or stems or leaves, but the poisons also injure or kill the bees and other pollinators which gather nectar and pollen. It's not surprising that children have the poisons in their bodies.

Remember, the poisons are through all of the plant, including the seeds, grains, beans, fruits, vegetables, whatever the EPA in USA or equivalent government agencies in other countries allow. Realize that most farmers in industrialized countries believe in poisons as the means to greater profits. The real organic and biodynamic farmers and ranchers are still not the majority.
