It keeps the mosquitos from biting me. I learned this hack from a friend many years ago. If you don't generally take this dose, begin about 2 weeks before you expect to need the protection!

Smoke keeps them away. Especially smoke from dried lavender. The smell of coffee keeps them away. A strong fan keeps them away if you point it at you while outside. 100% natural bug spray keeps them away. I use Badger bug spray and it works good. Bats keep them away because bats eat them at night. So you could always build some bat houses and hopefully some bats will move into them. Frogs and fish keep them away because they eat them. Screening and mosquito netting keeps them away. Removing all still sitting water from your property keeps them away because then they have no place to breed. And that’s all I can think of. Let me know if you can think of anything else to add to this list. Thanks!

Now, if your a night owl you'll be hanging out with them since they are nocturnal. But they will eat 3 times their own weight in mosquitoes each night.

We had No -See- Ums so bad that we quit using our back yard. I've been thinking about putting bat houses up so the bats can eat the flying bugs. But I've always heard that bats can carry rabies so maybe not a good idea.

I live in Northern Ontario, Canada so believe me I know about mosquitoes - a dozen different kinds. #1 mosquitoes, like all natural creatures, stay away from any kind of smoke - a natural result of the threat of forest fires. #2 lighter fluid? not healthy! #3 my favorite: save your egg cartons. Place half an egg carton on a heat proof surface nearby, light a small corner and let it smolder. It shouldn't burn. It produces enough smoke for quite a long time to keep mosquitoes away while I'm gardening, fishing, or BBQing. #4 when I'm on the move, I like this very effective insect repellant (mosquitoes, fleas, ticks, and other pests), safe (no chemicals, DEET, or petroleum-based ingredients) completely natural (lemongrass essential oil, water, glycerin, castor oil, vanilla, lecithin, and vitamin E.) . from Public Goods, NYC. www.publicgoods.com/.../insect-repellent
