The FDA issued a safety alert on them October 31, 2023, and updated it November 3 as a recall notice. I handled over 30 different chemicals on apples alone. I considered this crop to be second in pesticide use to cotton-and we don't eat cotton! And organic farmers in this area are commonly using Dow chemical Spinosad or 'Entrust' bacterium. It's a broad spectrum insecticide that's hard on bees and other beneficials and a bit of an allergen.

At the pick-your-own Skipley Farm in Snohomish I educate the public on apples with "blemifits" -the benefits of blemishes- which the most domestic fruit in the world ofcourse has the worlds bugs and blights- most can be tied to some benefit anticarcinogens Salvestrol and controversial Patulin. AM apple maggot and CM codling moth - caterpiller - can flavor the fruit but to our benefit for the bitters, vinegars and increased complexity. In fact many of the fruits I consume can be perfectly 'decayed' or bletted if not requiring that condition to consume satisfactorily.

Liquid apples or pears encapsulated in their skin are perfectly safe and basically raw pear or apple sauce and occasionally with natural vinegars and more rarely alcohol. I grow strictly organic fruit use Kaolin clay as a bug deterrent, lauding on the merits of apple scab, codling moth and apple maggot. My 520 varieties are grown for the joy of the science, flavors and storability.

On a mission to improve personal health through farming-incubating farmers through model. The apple has more phenolics www.intechopen.com/.../85557 and more than most berries including elder, blueberry, acai, goji etc. It is a superfood! and it has been adulterated and it requires education to recover. I sell trees (and fruit) to beginning farmers, scionwood and rootstock to grow your own. Consult local land Grant college and local farmer to discover how you can help your health.

Cadmium, inorganic arsenic, lead, or mercury have been found in multiple products marketed to children. This is OKAY with the FDA as they set a limit on the amount that is ALLOWED in these products. These things are toxic and there are no safe levels for children. In 2013 the FDA promised to lower the ALLOWED levels by 2018. What has the FDA done...NOTHING! FDA is useless! It is run by the Corporations that it is meant to regulate.
