Mercury is way more toxic than lead, and lead was taken out of most everything, including paint, back in the early 1960's. yet here today the ADA is still using their toxic MA's and still no safety support from the FDA.

I always ask what filling material is to be used and have not run across amalgam in the USA in over 20 years. IT should be banned everywhere in the world.mercury damages brain and neurons. UK apparently wants to injure their own people! Sickening!

I had read up on amalgam fillings and knew about the possibility that it was coming from the fillings. I went to my dentist and I told him about my suspicions and he said not to worry as they were "good as gold". At the time, removing these fillings was in it's infancy and it was essential to have them removed properly. I ended up going out of town and had them properly removed. It also costed a lot less then in the city where the procedure for removing them was suspect. Anyways, 2 of the 3 fillings were cracked and were leaking. My instincts were right.

Both my late wife and SIL had/have a full 32 healthy set of teeth, with my wife having had just one minor amalgam filling, which she always credited to her ancient Neanderthal background, lol. However, my SIL had 9 amalgam fillings, so when I took her for her periodic 6 month dental inspections, I asked the dentist to remove all her amalgams in favor of some kind of safe(r), (trouble-free to this day) resin fillings. It took 3 or 4 visits to accomplish all that and the dentist's charges were very reasonable.

However, what the dentist found was that 8 out of the nine old amalgams were not very deep, and the 9th was not that much deeper. That suggested to me that some other dentist long ago took advantage of my late MIL, care provider of my SIL at that time, and must of sold her a "bill of goods", that my SIL needed all those amalgams. Well I felt good that all SIL's toxic mercury amalgams were replaced, though some people here on the forum say that those resin filling can be just the lesser of two evils??? www.pinterest.com.au/.../564005553326701676 :-)

Why would the industry make more money with silver fillings, the safer fillings cost more and the cost would be past on to the patient anyway.

In spite of the dangers of mercury amalgam so close to the brain, it requires assessment of the risks/ benefits of removal of existing amalgam fillings especially if there are many. Another issue is the lack of biological dentists in the UK and the cost of removal or indeed any dental procedure. If an amalgam filling finally requires repair, the composite filling must be the preferred choice but composites are not without their own problems.

Dentistry is more or less beyond the reach of many - NHS waiting lists are up to two years depending on the type of treatment required and private care too expensive for most. Eastern Europe offers possibilities for the less well off but the costs of travelling and after-care may be high. On balance it may be best to leave existing amalgams in place but ensure your detox potential is up to speed. Bottom line - a healthy diet, minimum of processed, white flour foods and sugary carbs, some raw foods to help keep plaque away and an efficient cleansing regime.
