Major food companies are continuing to market popular children’s breakfast cereals and other types of foods as “healthy”

re: Many cereals tainted with toxic weed killer

This is why do don't eat breakfast cereals anymore. They are mostly grain and refined white sugar anyway and that is not a good combination to start your day.

------------------------

I commented on your Facebook posting on this, only to find that Facebook had erased my comment.

I agree with your criticism of Facebook, and want to point out that they have just bought up a company that tracks eye movements. So long as your camera is turned on (for Skype, or game playing) they can get real-time feedback on what you look at when they present a certain ad.

But the social usage of Facebook is very worthwhile. Whenever I buy something, usually from Ebay (and usually made in China) I quickly put up details in case my friends would like to purchase it too.

Rather than leave, I would like to see you running articles on Cognitive Psychology, in particular on priming, and most especially semantic priming. People need to know how marketing makes use of these concepts, to try and sell you something without even telling you about the product.

You might think about Lloyds Bank's series of adverts of horses, which announce that they are a Bank only at the end. As a UK taxpayer I paid for the government's bail out of that bank, and now they obviously are swimming in so much money that they can afford to hire large groups of semi-wild horses. You might think of the ads for Payday Loan companies, where fairly common domestic emergencies are made so much more bearable twith a quickly available loan at only 1200 % APR.

You might also think of all the ads that tried to persuade us that Coca Cola was about lots of international youth choirs extolling a creed of peace and love, whilst all the time the product is a major component in the problem of obesity and diabetes, particularly in the young.

People need to learn psychological tricks for avoiding this sort of conditioning.

Thankyou for your web-site. In the last 5 years it has persuaded me to go out running, to convert to a Mediterranean diet, and to lose 3 stone.
