If you happen to live in Hawaii, you’re going to have a hard time finding soda and other sugary drinks on the kids’ menu.
In human nature, as in physics, energy tends to the lowest level. Many parents--far too many--will not make a modest effort to learn basic nutrition or how to read a food label to nourish their children and families. I am tired of hearing, "too much work". Is it any less work to take care of sick children, watch them suffer deformities or need extensive dental work? (Read: NUTRITION AND PHYSICAL DEGENERATION--Westin A. Price, DDS)

I have seen some farmers give more care to selecting livestock feed than what they feed their own children.

Several decades ago, I lived in a community that was heavily vested in the sugar industry. Consuming sugary sodas was considered socially acceptable--even virtuous. Most of the children consumed at least 3 cans a day, even in classroom situations. I could not understand how parents were blind to the pervasive dental decay. Surely, these children will suffer in later years due to dental needs. Also, their behavior was very bad--it was hard to get children to focus or show respect. There are people who say sugar does not make children hyper, but ask any teacher what the day after Halloween is like in the classroom.

It seems children who are picky eaters are a phenomenon of developed countries. Like my niece who was indulged and allowed to eat only mac & cheese for about a year. Children in third world orphanages do not refuse to eat if they do not get what they want.

People tell us their children will not eat vegetables. Yet, when they come to our house, they ask for seconds.

A friend controls his diabetes by eating what he grows. He notices that even when he eats organic vegetables from the market that his blood sugar soars. Obviously, conventional food is not what we have been led to believe, maybe not even what is sold as "organic".
