&lt;p&gt;Firstly, haven&amp;#39;t they reduced the number of sleep stages, by merging stages 3 and 4?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;and secondly it is misleading to call rem sleep stage 5 (or 4 as they now call it) because it implies that one goes from delta sleep to rem sleep when in fact &amp;nbsp;rem sleep is between stage 1 and the waking state.&lt;/p&gt;

If I am tired enough, I can be dreaming while still partly awake. I can have several dreams in a 15 min nap.&lt;/p&gt;
