I will finish up on Christmas gifts and get food gifts out early before people are overfed and overstuffed. I did extra canning of wild foods last summer with Christmas in mind. Homemade woodworking gifts come from our shop. I knitted some pot holders since everyone eats. I will make favorite sugar-free recipes for individuals who do not cook much. I will cook a meal of my best friend's favorite soup and lefse. We will share game meat. I will make centerpieces and wreaths from greenery and natural materials. All gifts will be very unique, personal and useful. We never spend much and do not feel it is necessary.

Christmas is the only time of year when we splurge on buying beef, just a good steak. We do tend to indulge in some purchased food on holidays, but not throughout the holiday season. If you show up at our house at mealtime the day before a holiday, you will find us eating our regular homegrown daily fare, which we think is plenty good.
