I'm not exactly certain that the IVF portion is what increases the risks. Years ago they used to say that women that undergo fertility treatments have a higher risk of breast and cervical cancer.

As it turns out, the reasons why some women or men are infertile is what increases their risks of cancers. As an example, many men with suboptimal sperm counts in reality have lower testosterone and higher estrogen levels. All things fertility aside, this suboptimal hormone balance is what increases the cancer risk.

For women with infertility, this hormone balance is also to blame. Many women that can't conceive naturally just have short luteal phases, which is the part of the cycle after ovulation where progesterone levels rise preparing the uterus for zygote implantation. This is caused by higher than normal estrogen levels.

Excess estrogen is a known risk factor in MANY cancers. It is likely that whatever is causing the excess estrogen in these people is also likely causing the same problems in their offspring, hence the higher cancer risks.

IVF treatment is very short in duration compared to chronically misbalanced hormone levels that contribute to infertility.

Why a treatment that optimizes your hormone levels, as IVF does, would increase your cancer risks makes no scientific sense.

Men that undergo IVF treatment have full hormone levels performed and typically go on TRT treatment. This is known to improve quality of life and DECREASE cancer risks.

Women that undergo IVF treatment also have their hormones very carefully monitored and balanced, again, this DECREASES their cancer risk, not increases.

This study is not a cause and effect, it is like saying that everyone that dies of cancer drinks water, so we should stop drinking water to decrease cancer risk.

I believe pregnancies should be planned and that prior to becoming parents, the man and woman should take steps to optimize their health and detox. Also that marriage, as a commitment, preceed pregnancy. Even a birdbrain know enough to make a nest before bringing young into this world. It is best to have a stable home with a loving and mature mother and father. Evidence of this, especially, when a father's presence is absent and the detrimental effect it has on raising the children.
