Alzheimer's disease — the most common form of dementia for which there is no effective conventional treatment or cure —

re: Alzheimer’s Vaccine May Be Available Within 2 Years

As a small child of about 8 I remember when we had my Dad's mom come live with use because she couldn't remember things. Alzheimer's, got my introduction to it early in life because they tried to have her sleep in my bed. And that didn't work because she got up all the time. My Dad died from Alzheimer's. Two of his living brothers were diagnosed with it. My Dad was not fat and he was active until his brain gave out. His mom wasn't fat either, in fact she was quite thin. This was before all the genetic testing.

So yes, if they come up with a proven vaccine for Alzheimer's, I would take it especially if I had the genetic testing done and found I was predisposed to getting Alzheimer's. Thankfully it doesn't seem to run on my Mom's side of the family. My Mom's family lives pretty long and are fairly healthy as long as they don't smoke. My Mom is 83. She is in great shape other than taking too many blood pressure meds, and she is very active and still living by herself and taking care of herself. She still has one older brother and and older sister who are alive. She was the baby of the family.

I do hope they come up with something better than a vaccine, but yes, I would take the vaccine. I will also say that I do a lot of preventative measures. I exercise. I raise almost all of our own meat. I have a large garden. I am very active. I run our small farm. I cook most of our meals. I eat a lot of veggies and I have been taking supplements like curcumin, vitamin D, magnesium, resveratrol, COQ10, and krill oil for years. I am not on any presecription medications nor is my husband.

Yeah throw another vaccine at it. That will work.

There's such a thing as early Alzheimer's, and CJD is sometimes diagnosed as Alzheimer's. Can lifestyle prevent their onset?

There's no known way to prevent FTD or slow its progression. They can run in family. It hurts when I see someone with FTD. We need to do something about it.

I fall short on the sleep I should get, but I do not do sugar. I started doing various varieties of puzzles. I will never ever get a shingles vaccine nor an Alzheimer vaccine needle poked in my body, even though I know how awful this illness is and what it does to caregivers and the sad people affected by this mind/body wasting illness.
