An estimated 48% of Americans do not get sufficient magnesium from their diet, and that number is even higher among diabetics and postmenopausal women with osteoporosis

re: Magnesium: A Cornerstone Mineral for Health

Be careful of too much spinach, beet greens, Swiss chard and almonds as they have a high amount of oxalates- which I learned about first through Dr. Mercola’s interview with Sally K. Norton. Oxalate overload was causing a lot of damage not only to my kidneys, but also other tissues that had been previously damaged from fluoroquinolone toxicity (Cipro) antibiotic damage. Thank God for Dr. Mercola’s interview with Sally because I was eating a lot of almonds, almond flour, almond butter and some dark chocolate on the keto lifestyle. In an effort to become healthy, I was destroying my body even at the cellular level and damaged tendons could never quite recover from being “floxed” from Cipro. Just a word of warning.... Sally K Norton and others like Susan Owens have done extensive research into oxalates and say that even if a food has certain benefits, that benefit never outweighs the detrimental effects of the oxalates. In fact, the oxalates, which are plant defense mechanisms will attach to a mineral like calcium (calcium oxalate comprise most of kidney stones)- and rob your body of that mineral. Spinach has the highest content of oxalates. Better to choose romaine or arugula instead. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
