An interesting website by Corteva has links to the CA lawsuit, for anyone interested here's the link: https://www.chlorpyrifos.com/ - looks like a marketing piece, except for the news on the far right column.

"November 7, 2019 Written Notice of Stipulated Settlement Agreement on Chlorpyrifos in California

As part of the Stipulated Settlement Agreement regarding the agricultural use of chlorpyrifos, executed on October 9, 2019, between Dow AgroSciences and the California Department of Pesticide Regulation, we are required to provide written notice to your organization about the terms of continued use. While the listed chlorpyrifos product registrations will lapse on December 31, 2019, the negotiated existing stock provisions will allow for continued use through December 31, 2020.

• Registrations will lapse at the end of the year.

• Dow AgroSciences will cease sales within 30 days after the effective date of the settlement agreement [i.e., November 8, 2019].

• Dealers/distributors will cease sales within 120 days after the effective date of the settlement agreement [i.e., February 6, 2020].

• Users can continue to use affected products until December 31, 2020. All use must comply with approved labeling for the product; the Chlorpyrifos Interim Recommended Permit Conditions issued by the Department in November 2018; and any other use restrictions imposed by the local county agricultural commissioner. www.cdpr.ca.gov/.../general_notice_append_o.pdf

Companies will often discontinue a toxic product for the following reasons:

1.) They fear liability and litigation.

2.) They are getting ready to release a "newer and improved" replacement for the product.

3.) The product is not profitable.

4.) Moral turpitude. This may occur when one of their own family members suffers.
