A banker contacted the professor and said he was looking for a bright ambitious graduate to start working at the bank for minimum wage. As he recounted this to us students, he also told us that he did not expect us to graduate and start working at minimum wage.

So, I wonder what kinds of volunteers they hope to attract for this study. Will they be bright? Will they be healthy? Will they be desperate for the money and why--do they need room and board? Are they hoping to attract the homeless? Will they be representative of the general population that the researchers intend the vaccine for? The tv, playstation and wifi makes it sound like they are seeking young people who should (?) have good immune systems anyway. At least in one respect, it seems like a very real situation. Being confined to "a secure facility" sound like being in an inner cabin on a Princess Cruise.

Greek Princess77... Glad you were not on that cruise! Your kind comments gave me pause. Growing up, I was often at odds with the school system, which was parochial in my early years. I was not a favorite of the strict nuns because I was simply incapable of understanding social conformity. It may have had to do with the fact that I had a woods in my backyard to play in and was never properly socialized while out climbing trees and skinning my knees. Reading and writing came easily to me even though I only knew my alphabet when I started school and kindergarten was play time in those years. (I only went a half day, because schools felt children that young should not be cooped up for long hours.) One day, I just sat down and read an entire reader--it all came together that fast. Only in my later years have I come to realize being a black sheep was actually a great blessing. It has given me a unique perspective. I have the confidence to act on my own best interest, even when contrary to to social norms. I see things as they are, without blinders.
