What a disjointed rejoinder from the self-described "educated [?] mind" There's a difference in being apart from what's termed "society" and engaging in deliberately malicious actions meant to bring attention to an inadequate self. Because you can do it - whatever IT is - does not mean you should do it. Self-restraint, which relied upon generally agreed upon norms, is defunct. Hence, the lickers, the coughers, the spitters, etc., whose publicized antics inordinately occupy the media.

Is "social distancing" here to stay? I fervently hope so. I've been practicing it all of my life and I'm thrilled to be able to make it useful. As for myriad complaints from those who claim they're "lonely", pshaw, they need to develop their inner resources. They're apparently empty vessels who make a demand on the public treasury to "cure" their inadequacies.

Social isolation has been going on for some time thanks to cell phones, laptops, and social media. It's just increased and now has "for a common good" label.

It is a problem needing fixing. If it continues we will all just be part of an imagined video game having no relationship to ourselves and no different than a simulated character in that game. No empathy, no concern for others and no understanding of how our behavior damages others. It's just the game, part of the game.
