Away from Facemasks, why has there been insufficient news of the people in every country being told how many people have had this WUHAN SARS corona virus…!!! And only had very mid discomfort.. see several of the Australian Ministers and latest UK’s Prince Charles… there are soo many more in the general public… would this not make it a little less fearful….OR is that exactly what all our Governments want…. To frighten the hell out of their people??? Can’t imagine how people are surviving in small units, without having a garden to get out into… All those are also not permitted to Fill up on Nature’s so important Sunshine… and not sure how many would have a quality D3 5000 iU in the medicine cupboard!!!???? . Should you be wondering why I call it Wuhan >>>.... we had the spanish flue, the HK flue... and this originates out of Wuhan... so why not give it that name...!

Facemasks... I too would think they should prevent droplets being breathed in orLanding on me... and protection full stop. BUT why are so many front line health workers keeling over...??? This news of those that are caring for the ICU sick... is absolutely heartbreaking!....

Excellent...My question is ..Why doesn't our media and Govt share this crucial data from other countries statistics and success with meds and remedies that have worked.???? Please send a photo to our president and his staff that stands behind him everyday. They are in harms way.

FIRST, it is noteworthy that it is being implied masks protecting medical personnel work for them, against contamination by patients, but that the same masks do not work for the general public the same way.

I noted local medical personnel switched from poor sealing surgical masks to better sealing N95 masks, like those commonly found in woodshops, sheetrock working sites and so on. There is, of course, a reason for this - the masks seal better. They may even filter better, but that would be a moot issue if the wearer was breathing in air that got past a poorly sealed mask.

All that aside, picture hanging a bed sheet, placing a cup of kitchen flower in a leaf blower, aiming it at the sheet and turning it on. Only a bit of the dust would go through. ALL the dust that hit the sheet material would be stopped.

Now, improve on the filtration by going to a high end sheet with a higher thread count, so less porousness. Even less flower would get through.

Of course, a gust of wind or an air conditioner/heater could still up the dust and water landed on it.

In the end, masks work to both protect the wearer and those around them. How well depends on the mask, it's fit and handling.

Fantastic knowledge. Please make sure to check with Filtrete manufacturer in case you intend to use it as a filtration layer for your masks. I did my homework just yesterday. I was advised that it is not recommended to do so, as no test has been done to prove it’s safety for such purpose. This filter is made out Polyolefin, Polypropolene and a glue which the name can not be revealed.

In the next 2-4 weeks, you will see a push to have everyone wear masks. It's a proven fact that it reduces the spread.

Think of it this way: If you have the virus with no symptoms, by wearing a mask, you are infecting less people. A large portion of your droplets are being stopped by the mask or scarf. It is the most loving thing you can do for your family and fellow man. We are not talking about protecting yourself from the virus (although wearing a mask will decrease your exposure by 50% or more). We are trying to protect others in case we are as asymptotic carriers.

So take some time to sew a mask, find a scarf, wear a dust mask that is for construction purposes, anything will help to protect your fellow man.

Once you have been out in public, the mask is considered dirty. If you have cloth masks, wash them after each use. If you have other mask, either put in the oven on 150 degrees for 30 minutes or in ziplock bag in freezer overnight. ( I have heard both work, but heat is preferred). After dealing with mask, wash your hands.

Many patterns for sewing DIY masks avail online. I am considering whether I can somehow incorporate a disposable coffee filter between the 2 layers. (Hepa filters, cut from a furnace filter available at many hardware stores, are also being used.) 3 masks per individual... 1 to wear, 1 for the laundry and 1 extra. I will use these only as a last resort, so I am in no hurry to cut and sew. I will wait for a nice day and move my treadle sewing machine outdoors and pedal away. I have remnants of pillow ticking that is supposed to work reasonably well. My first line of defense will be surgical masks and masks with replaceable carbon filters. These will not last forever, but I can extend use by sterilizing both sides under intense UV-C light.

It is my understanding that various kinds of DIY masks are only about 50% effective. That will vary according to the pattern, fit and materials used. Even so, keep in mind that it only takes one exposure to pass thru to make you very sick. They are no where near 100% effective, but they are better than nothing. However, when 2 people are wearing masks in each others presence, the efficiency can increase.

The Czech data (2 deaths, 126 new cases) is from March 23, they now have 31 deaths, 256 new cases on 3/30.

In Deaths/ Capita they are about 2/3 of Korea, 1/8 of Germany.

The First case reported in the Czech R. was Feb 29, in Korea Jan19, in Germany Jan 26, so the Czech R. is over a month behind.

The Mask Video began circulating March 14, two weeks after their 1st case, so they got a late start in infections, which could account for their relatively low case and death numbers, could it not? In any case it seems clear that widespread use of masks has not curtailed the spread of the virus as much as hoped. Am I missing something?

Are there data on the rate of increase in the Czech Republic compared to other countries from 1st case forward?

Absolutely fascinating segment. The first 5min made me think it wasn’t going to be worthwhile but then the info and explanation of the graphs and info was eye opening. I always wondered why Asians in the US airports always wore masks. It’s because they know something us Americans have not learned: masks prevent transmission of disease. Socially we need to accept this practice-especially right now!!

But our own health officials need to be communicating accurate information without contradiction.....and this will likely not happen any time soon...

Thanks to Dr. Mercola, once again, for getting this information out to us.

Well First off why do you have to make a mask with all the different materials. You can just make a bandana you don't need elastic you don't need staples you don't need glue make a bandana or buy them.They've been around for a long long time. Secondly why absolutely no mention of taking vitamin C vitamin D magnesium zinc etc I'm building your immunity. Why? He mentions about what China and Korea are doing but says nothing about the fact that they are using megadoses of vitamin C to cure people and to prevent.... why no mention? Afraid of the cure? Very informative but not enough of the right information.

The Czech Republic has seen a big rise in the number of cases and in deaths - 16 as of 5:26 p.m. March 29. The number of cases went up to 2,775 = ↑ 144 (5.47%) since yesterday. I think wearing a mask would help prevent me from spreading the virus if I have it and others from spreading it to me but most of us do not wear of have masks. Time get/make some.
