VItamin C simply lowers cortisol levels, this then prevents NK cell levels from dropping. Realistically this is the primary mechanism by which Vitamin C improves immunity, by suppressing cortisol levels.

As an Immunologist, it makes no sense as to why an anti-oxidant would improve immunity. Oxidation is required during an immune response. NK cells and T cells release reactive oxygen species as part of the process of killing infected cells. therefore it makes sense that Vitamin C only improves immunity by preventing drops in NK cells, nothing to do with its anti-oxidant activity.

Doesn't that mean schools should stop encouraging kids to have sex early and often? Our friend's brother is HIV+ and continues to cavort with other males; at least one was more susceptible to the virus than her brother; that man died. Isn't that irresponsible behavior? There are just things in nature that show us what's good and bad behavior. People who consider hygiene seem to do better. I heard that Jews have been killed in times past because other people were dying of plagues, whereas they were not because they observed certain rules of cleanliness that by and large came from the Torah. And one other thing I was wondering, what about the produce at the grocery handled by everyone that comes through? Must be a couple thousand people come through a Walmart or other grocery on a daily basis, touching vegetables, etc. Yet the pastor of a Tampa church -- where they were distancing themselves in family clusters and trying to maintain the 6' rule (which is hard and I don't see people doing that at the hardware store either), and using lots of hand sanitizer and even some wearing gloves -- got in trouble. What's that about?
