Do not expect food to be available for purchase at harvest time. What is available may not be at a good price. Plan ahead.

Much of the feed has already been bought up by big-ag. This could be a good time for farmers raising grass fed beef or smaller poultry operations that raise much of their own feed and sell direct to customers. There will always be a demand for quality. Many people will pay extra to avoid supermarkets and meat sold in supermarkets. Some families with vision and resources are planning to sell starter plants and grass fed meat (or vertically-integrated feed) to earn income during these changing times. Please support the small farmers and purchase directly from them whenever possible. They need your support and you need their support.

A word to the wise. If you have the time, read, "A Tale of Two Cities". Pay attention to the discussion of food prices during a time of crisis.

If social distancing is possible, I think it's safe to work, and we should find solutions. It's important to pay attention to work safety because if we have medical emergencies, social distancing can be tough. I have friends who drop off gifts to keep each other safe. Restaurants can do the same.
