Bad statistics going in - inaccurate data coming out? Saturday's press update from NY Gov. Cuomo shows several good examples of how New York State was handed estimates of 5 major projections yet had no way to determine which to follow, hampering their ability to anticipate actual needs. Gov. Andrew Cuomo shows graphs of estimates before the "shut down" compared to actual curve New York is on now, after "the pause", in the first 15 minutes of this update: www.cbsnews.com/.../andrew-cuomo-new-york-coronavirus-deaths-stabilizing-horrific-rate - worth the time to watch and listen, notice how high or wild initial projections appear, especially compared to very high estimates from the CDC, nearly an outlier projection. (No longer wonder where all the fear and panic came from.)

I am ready to hear something on the radio that does not discuss the coronavirus. I think this topic has been beaten to death. If people have not gotten the message by now, they are hopeless. Yes, I do turn the radio on hooping for news or good music, but end up turning it off. No tv, just computer news.

Besides, it is depressing. Not a good way to start and end the day. How I long for the summer days before air conditioning when I would wake up to rock-and-roll on the alarm radio. The cool night air turned to sweltering heat as the sun came in thru my still open window... maybe with an annoying mosquito still buzzing around.

I am appalled when I read the news or watch videos that reveal the ignorance of even the experts. For example, I see make shift hospital beds in wards where beds are lined up head-to-head. I seem medical personnel touching each other in friendly ways, just as they did before the pandemic. World leaders shaking hands and Mr. Touchy-Feely getting close enough to sniff hair. I see hospital cafeteria lines without social distancing--also people crowding together in line at food banks. Pairs of police officers standing side-by-side, themselves, while they reprimand citizens for not practicing social distancing. Huffing and puffing joggers in close proximity, staying on a narrow sidewalk. People going shopping for things that are not necessities. We are still having problems with people in major denial.
