You can't make billions or trillions of $$$$ selling vitamin D. Got to develop that Vaccine, and that miracle drug and sell them both to billions of people.

Update (5/15/20)

There's another new study out of Northwestern University summarized here: "Vitamin D levels appear to play role in COVID-19 mortality rates" www.sciencedaily.com/.../200507121353.htm "

But there's probably much more to it than that: with optimal vitamin D levels many if not most would never get infected in the first place!

I first got interested in Vitamin D after reading some of Dr. John Cannell's, founder of the vitamin D Council, research. He was an MD at a CA state mental hospital when the H1N1 flu swept through the facility. There were a number of wards in the hospital. While all of the other wards had serious infection rates, no one in his ward contracted it. How could that be? After some thought he realized that all of his patients had high vitamin D levels as he was doing research on its effect on mental health. This sparked more research into vitamin D and health and he eventually founded The Vitamin D Council.

I contributed for many years to his Council to help spread the word which was that vitamin D, and lack thereof, is involved in virtually every major disease and particularly in immune related diseases. He also popularized the fact that there are important co-factors needed for D to work optimally: vitamin K, Magnesium, and Zinc. If you are curious about vitamin D and the various diseases it effects check out the Vitamin D wiki: https://vitamindwiki.com

I'll go out on the limb here, but I firmly believe that if everyone in the US had optimum levels of Vitamin D (40 to 50+ ng/ml) the annual cost of our sick care industry would be cut, at least, in half. That, of course, would result in massive unemployment (at least for a while).
