Be Healthy, But Don't Lose Your Mind or Job
Perhaps, Americans are more concerned about the obesity epidemic and how it shortens their lives after all, based on the findings of a national survey conducted by Fitness magazine (free text link below).
In fact, more than half of the men and women polled (out of more than 1,000) said they'd rather become jobless than gain 75 pounds. Here's a shocker: Seventeen percent of men and 11 percent of women would give up 20 points on their IQs to have the perfect body.
More interesting numbers, particularly on the female side:
- Almost a quarter of women have avoided sex because they're uncomfortable with their bodies.
- More than one-fourth would rather have their wisdom teeth pulled than shop for a swimsuit.
- A stunning 63 percent of women would prefer to be poor and have no weight problems than to be rich and excessively overweight.
Folks, there's no need to give up your livelihood for your health or vice-versa. But there's no quick fix for treating obesity either, despite all the new things conventional medicine can do with a balloon and drugs. Losing weight and optimizing your health means making some common sense lifestyle changes which include:
- Eating the right foods based on your body's unique nutritional type.
- Getting the right amount and kind of exercise.
- Addressing the underlying emotional issues that brought you to this place by learning and using an effective tool like the Emotional Freedom Technique, the energy psychology tool used daily in my practice.
- Reduce, with plan of eliminating, grains and sugars from your daily diet.
