Here's another reason the e-mails you send to coworkers, family members and, perhaps, a potential employer may be misinterpreted: Those nasty spelling and grammatical errors that seem to crop up, especially when you're in a hurry.
Granted, that happens when we mix written communication (e-mail) with the verbal. And, it can be as easy as an irregardless that crops up in ordinary conversation and gets quickly forgotten, yet sticks out like a sore thumb when you're reading it in an e-mail.
Five of the biggest mistakes for which you'll want to be on the lookout:
- Effect instead of affect.
- Loose instead of lose.
- It's instead of its.
- You're instead of your.
- Then instead of than.
