Trillion Dollar Health Scam

Drug companies are billing the U.S. public for AT LEAST $1 trillion.

This is, without any doubt in my mind, one of the biggest scandals in the history of the United States.

This Medicare drug plan fiasco enriches pharmaceutical companies, fleeces taxpayers, and forces millions of older Americans to accept inferior drug coverage -- while doing nothing to address the real reasons prescription drugs cost so much.

The financial impact of this legislation on taxpayers cannot be overstated. Government projections that the drug program will cost $400 billion over the next decade cannot be trusted, as existing Medicare programs cost four times more than was estimated when they were created.

The likely cost is at least $1.5 trillion over 10 years, and much more in following decades as the American population grows older.

Dr. Mercola's Comment:

I am absolutely SHOCKED that this ever made it to national TV on Sixty Minutes. It is surprising that the drug industry did not have enough influence over CBS to prevent this from being aired. This is, without any doubt in my mind, one of the biggest scandals in the history of the United States.

The drug companies are billing the U.S. public for AT LEAST $1 trillion. The late Senator Everett Dirksen from Illinois was fond of saying when he was referring to the Defense Department budget, "A billion dollars here, a billion dollars there and before you know it you are talking real money."

Well folks, we are not talking about $1 billion, we are talking about $1,500 BILLION.

Interestingly, the smart person's favorite candidate for the U.S. presidency, Ron Paul, commented on this bill when it was initially introduced four years ago.

If you don't believe me then PLEASE read an analysis by Jack Schreiber, MD, from over 40 years ago when the original Medicare legislation was introduced. Dr. Schreiber was a member of the American College of Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) and wrote this piece for their journal. AAPS is the only professional medical organization I belong to as they are firm believers in freedom.

Most Profitable Industry in the World

Americans currently pay the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs. Canadians, Europeans, and even citizens of Mexico pay only about one-half to as little as one-tenth the price paid by Americans for the very same chemicals. Drug companies actually import many of the raw materials used in drugs from other countries, meaning that some U.S. medicines are already sourced from countries like the U.K. and Germany.

Drug companies mark up their prescription drugs as much as 569,000% over the price of the raw materials. A typical markup is more in the 30,000% - 50,000% range. Retailing pharmaceuticals is hugely profitable. There is no business in the world with more profit built into the retail price of the product. How many business owners would like to have those profit margins?

The purpose of restricting Americans from buying drugs from other countries is to enforce a medical monopoly in the United States, forcing consumers to purchase drugs at the highest prices in the world, further padding the profits of powerful and influential pharmaceutical corporations who exert strong influence over the U.S. Congress.

Bottom Line?

The United States simply cannot continue along this path without suffering serious economic consequences. We are currently spending more than $2 trillion on a health care system that is terribly broken and heading for $3 trillion by the end of the decade.

It is time you stand up now and Take Control of Your Health. Start engaging in behaviors that allow you to become independently healthy so you don't have to rely on drug-company solutions. You need to be a shining example of health to the rest of the country.

YOU Are the Solution

The VAST majority of the American public is dumber than dirt when it comes to health. They have been effectively manipulated and deceived by the brilliant marketing scams of the drug companies. If you can lead by example you can be a pillar of light out of this darkness we have progressed into.

All we need to do is convince 10 percent of the population and this system will crumble. Even though they have trillions of dollars of revenues, they simply can't fight the truth.

The reason this was allowed to air is because 'they' have learned over the last several years that you don't need to hide the truth any more since no matter how outrageous or inflammatory it is, telling it makes absolutely no difference.
Business will go on as usual because most people are too sick, tired, drugged, uneducated or distracted to do anything about it. And since there is no security in place to protect our votes, it doesn't matter anyway. That's the sad truth.
Dare we hope the system might implode?

what Bridestein said pretty much says it all.  It's a sad state but that's pretty much how it is.

I agree-Bridestein summed it up the way it is. The only way we have a chance in hades to even begin a change in these devilish ways of the unethical practice of beastily vultures and the little guys and gals in washington that earnestly lay and wait to be heavily rewarded for their malichious acts of labor, is to go to the polls this time and vote against EVERYONE that is currently holding office there. Vote them ALL out reguardless of the party. If that doesn't send a message, we all are in deep trouble. But then again, if the new ones get in, my guess is that either they already know, or they will be formally educated on the fact that they really can make a lifetime living in just on term if they are willing to play ball with the big boys. But, it's at least a shot in the right direction.

what do I think?
I think that everyone should lobby their elected official, whether it is municipal, state-wide, or federal. Talk to anybody that will listen, forward the message via internet and  don't stop until the pharmaceuticals have gone to ground.
Where their greed is once more manageable to the general public and where federal laws are in place so it will never happen again.
I am a Canadian, living on the west coast of Canada and I have been lobbying for years to keep the pharmaceuticals from taking over vast amounts of, not only drugs, but healthcare facilities like long term care, "alternative drugs", and where they, the pharmaceuticals are building "clinics" to bring down our national health plan: our Medicare Plan.
I am a politically active 65 year old female fighting to keep this Plan but the pharmecueticals, as Dr. Mercola points out is a monsterous, out-of-control steam roller,  whose goal is simple:
outsource all other healthcare links everywhere.
Lobby, folks, lobby.
And as I sit sipping my morning coffee, using  my new small plastic coffee machine from China, the plastic keyboard, printer, pc, with my plastic water bottle filled with orange juice, upon the chair which sits upon the new plastic mat, I travel through a plastic world.
However after reading the latest news on this site, I will be giving away these plastics to a garage sale, and figure out how to keep a glass bottle/jar icy cold without breaking it.
Cheers,
FayeJ

I completely agree with Bridestein's comments.  However, I also completely agree with Dr. Mercola's suggestion that we ALL educate ourselves and those we care about.  Eventually something will sink in.

The government is increasingly corrupt, the debates and the elections are rigged for the corporate interests. The latest debate was clearly rigged for bias, Ron Paul only had about 8 minutes of time and the democratic hero - Senator Mike Gravel was equally avoided in the dems debate!.. RP was not even given a chance to answer the question about health care.. when he is a doctor and probably the only qualified person up there to comment on the question - what a disgrace!!!

http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/june2007/060607mediasidelines.htm

The Fascism has gone on too long... We are headed for tragedy here in America if we can not take her back - collapse of the dollar looks to be on it's way.. NWO plans are making headline news with Rick Perry of Texas going to the Bilderberg conference in Istanbul.

http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/june2007/010607internationalconspiracy.htm

With the rigged election to follow shortly there will be no hope for us but to have a Revolution to take back our country and install a true government of the people and for the people based on the constitution!

Then We can install Ron Paul as our President!!

Also make Dr. Mercola the advisor of health care in America!

This article has made me sick to my stomach!

Liars, thieves, killers - where is their conscience?

Thankful I don't have their Karma to deal with in the future...................

I thought drug pushers ended up behind bars...............

I am going to keep educating and helping the people within my circle of life to get away from these drug pushers.

PS - Great idea Jeremy for Dr Mercola to be Advisor of Health Care.  What a laugh that the present system has the world "health" affiliated with them.........

Yes Jeremy, we can take back the country with a revolution if we get enough people to look at this video and get them off the sodium flouride so they have a will to do something.

Remember that the elites have hundreds of trillions of dollars and they won't let the drug companies go down the drain without a big fight, a war, perhaps Armeggedon that should distract everyone from looking at the drug companies.

Unfortunately, most Americans are not dilligent enough with their health.  Most people are pretty lazy, they don't want to do what it takes to maintain their health.  They would rather go to the doctor when they are sick and get a "quick fix".  Enter the drug companies.  Drug companies are great at telling us that we can't be healthy without thier miraculous chemicals!

People are programmed all day long by television advertisements, product placement on their favorite shows, radio ads, billboards etc.... As a society, everyone is looking for fulfillment and hoping that their next "cool" purchase will complete them or now with all the pharmaceutical ads, looking for the magic pill.  If they are afflicted with something they are comforted to know that the glamorous people in these ads are just like them.  Most everyone is conditioned to want instant results.  Turning off the television and radio, ignoring the billboards and magazines, goes a long way to finding a peace with the most simple things in life.

This is my first time commeting on this site, and I have to say, there is great information here.  I have been very cynical of the conventional medical establishment for years...I stopped vaccinating my children when my 14 year old was 18 months, and we rarely see a doctor, only when there has been a physical injury.  I am aiming more and more to stay away from processed foods, chemical cleaners, etc...I now raise goats for milk, have chickens for fresh eggs and meat, and grow a veggie garden.  And I totally believe in getting the word out on the dangers of processed foods, and our medical system.  The problem I have is that either people think I am an extremist (my husband) and or believe there is nothing they can do about it.  It makes me feel helpless against the machine.  The government is now putting pressure on us people who raise our own animals for food with the national animal id system and all the expenses of tagging and testing...what can we do?

You can continue to do what you are now doing.  Raising your own food is not extremist.  Buying tasteless and nutritionless food grown in questionable practices from thousands of miles away is extremist. Lobby your politicians and make lots of noise promoting your right to grow your own food.

And don't get discouraged. There are many people here who share your ideas.  The machine is just that, and we all know what eventually happens to machines.

It's not enough to Question Authority.  I prefer to take it one step further-- Pie Authority! A nice old-fashioned in-your-face protest.
